Age 86, of Canton passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 in Aultman Hospital. Born August 4, 1931 in Dover, Ohio to the late Paul and Mary (Mehok) Adams. James was a Canton resident for over 60 years. He attended Dover High School and was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. Jim was employed as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studio, then employed by Fame Beverage; retiring from the Timken Company after 29 years of service. He was the owner/operator of the former La Piazza in Bolivar. Jim was a member of St Mary’s/St Benedict Catholic Parish, the McKinley Eagles and the VFW. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing the lottery but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Adams in 1999; a daughter, Sherri Adams; three brothers, Patrick, Robert and Paul Adams; a sister, Pauline Binsack. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Brian Levengood; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kris Adams; a special nephew, Eric Adams and niece, Kim Haswell; eight grandchildren, Brett, Derek, Kyle, Seth and Celeste Levengood, Macy, Emmy and Alexis Adams; a brother, John Adams; a sister, Dorothy Rothacher; numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Canton with Fr Benson Okpara as Celebrant. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5 – 8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s/ St Benedict Catholic
