Negro League Baseball Player from 1921 to 1931. He played at third base, second base, and shortstop for teams in Birmingham, Ala; Cleveland; Memphis, Tenn; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; and Detroit. Teammates from Davis’ playing days read like a who’s who of Negro League baseball. They included Satchel Paige, Rube Foster, Cool Papa Bell, Pop Lloyd, Mule Suttles, Willie Wells, and Turkey Stearns. He arrived in Minot as part of a baseball tour and stayed, becoming a businessman and being honored as the city's Outstanding Citizen in 1974.Negro League baseball player. Played shortstop, second base and third base for the Vapor City Tigers, Columbus Buckeyes, Birmingham Black Barons, Memphia Red Sox, Chicago American Giants, Colores House of David, Gilkerson's Union Giants and the Zulu Grass Skirts.

In the late 1930s, he became manager of the Zulu Grass Skirt Team. The team broke up in the 1940s.
