Thomas Henry "Tommy" Risner, son of Arden Risner and Sylvia Kellett Risner, was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Thayer and died May 9, 2004, in Thayer at the age of 71 years.
He was married July 3, 1959, in Myrtle, to Sherry Case.
He was married June 20, 1999, in Thayer to Norma (Combs) Wiggs.
He attended all 12 years of school in the Thayer School system graduating with the class of 1950.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Orleck 886, during the Korean War. He received many awards and medals while serving his country including, The National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with One Star, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the Church of Christ for 52 years.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home in Thayer, MO; three sons, Chad Risner and wife, Tammy of Bentonville, AR; Keith Risner and wife, Pam; and Clay Risner and wife, Heather all of Thayer, MO; one step-daughter, Kay Burk and husband Rodney of Rogersville, MO; five grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; one step-great-granddaughter; one sister, Mary Sue Farrell and husband, Ken of Thayer, MO; one niece; one nephew; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Paul Farrell.
The funeral was May 11 at Thayer Church of Christ with Erman Croney officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, MO.
Pallbearers were Stacy Hambelton, Don Johnson, Doyle Wood, Art Oakes, Randy Ward and Harlin Parnell.
Honorary pallbearers were Elmo Martin, Noel Geib, Doug Martin, Marvin Hedden, Willie Reese, Charles Gower, Norman Cozort, Gene Boren, Don Shehorn and Dale Huddleston.
