Kay Harlene Ward, 87, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 23, 1930 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Percy and Maude (Garton) Solomon. Harlene worked for Michigan Bell for 30 plus years before her retirement. She married Norman Ward on October 30, 1948 in Battle Creek. Harlene enjoyed playing the Omni chord and singing. She loved spending time with her friends and family and playing cards. Harlene was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. Norman and Tootie would winter in Florida and while there she directed the "Country Jammin".
She is survived by her husband, Norman; sons, Larry Ward and Gary Ward; grandchildren, Ben (Bobbie Jo) Ward, Tim (Ashley) Ward, Eric Ward, Tyler (Heather) Ward, and Tiffany Ward; and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Percy; mother, Maude Lempkie; infant sons Allen Ward and David Ward; and her sisters, Fern, Dolly, Lorraine "Aunt Babe", and June.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Jeffery Worden of Hickory Corners Bible Church officiating.
Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Heart Association.
