Carroll Wayne Stanley age 71, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. Mr. Stanley was a lifelong resident of the Caney Ridge area and graduated from Clintwood High School with the Class of 1965. He was a United States Army Veteran and a retired coal miner from Clinchfield Coal Company. Mr. Stanley enjoyed reading, farming, archery, hunting and fishing. He loved his grandchildren, Joseph, Kennedy and Zachary. He was generous, always willing to help a friend or family member. Mr. Stanley was quite a character and everyone enjoyed his colorful tales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Aurora Stanley.

Survivors include his son, Anthony Stanley and Sharon of Coeburn, Virginia; daughter, Manda Prettyman and husband Otis of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; grandchildren, Joseph, Kennedy and Zachary Prettyman; two sisters, Anita St.Clair of Gray, Tennessee and Bernadine Stanley and husband Jack of Coeburn, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 11th from 6 PM until 8 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, July 12th at 12 Noon in the Rugsby Chapel Cemetery with Wayne Keith officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
