Joseph was born on November 4th 1925 in Tulare, CA to Manuel & Amelia Leal. He passed away in Visalia on July 1, 2018 at the age of 92 years.
Joseph was raised and educated in Tulare, CA. He honorably served in the Marines overseas in Japan. Joseph married Albertina Rico in Vallejo, Ca in 1949 and the couple raised their family in Visalia. He was an avid woodworker, often receiving awards for his work on train & vintage auto models in wood. He also enjoyed hunting & traveling to the beach.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his sister Mary of Hawaii; sons Eugene (Vicki) Leal of Visalia, and Alvin (Linda) Leal of Kingsburg; daughters Elaine (Dennis) Swearingen of Redmond OR, and Annette Humphrey of Visalia; grandchildren Karli Leal of Austin TX, and Brycone (Jessica) Humphrey of Honolulu HI; great grandchild Nathen Humphrey of Honolulu HI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers.
Graveside services will be held Monday July 16th at 9:00 A.M at Visalia Public Cemetery District 1300 W. Goshen Ave., followed by Celebration of Life at Visalia Veteran’s Memorial Building 609 W. Center Ave, Visalia at 10:00 A.M.
