Mrs. Martinez was born Sept. 8, 1941 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Armando and Marcelina (Ortiz) Velez. She was a member of Iglesia Cristiana Casa Del Perdon for 40 years; she enjoyed cooking, decorating, crafts, sewing and knitting but, most of all, her loving husband.
Besides her loving husband of 40 years, Nicomedes, she is survived by one sister, Lydia Velez; four brothers, Armando Velez, Victor Velez, Jose Velez and Juan Velez; 26 nieces and nephews. All who knew her loved her.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Casa Del Perdon, 32 ½ Walnut St., Waterbury. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
