The Statesboro, Georgia, native traveled throughout the United States with her husband during his military career. Following his retirement, Sonja began her education and received a surgical technician degree in 1990. She enjoyed her career in the medical field until she became disabled in 1996. She and Danny returned to Statesboro in 2007. Sonja was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Crosby; stepfather, Doug Crosby; a brother, Hugh Taylor; and a sister, Carolyn Quinot. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Daniel E. Taylor of Statesboro; two sisters, Donna Aronio of Snellville and Alma Bryan of Aurora, Mo.; two brothers, Wendell Williams of Ellabell and Dennis Williams of Spokane, Wash.; and her aunt, Margie Williams of Statesboro. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Gay officiating. Interment will be in Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Jones, Johnny Jones, Dustin Jones, Jackie Hendrix, Trell Williams and Bobby Davis. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O.
