Alexander Nelson Webb, son of Judson and Jersula (Truesdell) Webb, was born in Onondaga County, New York, USA.

He married Caroline Elizabeth Lefferts in Galway, New York. They later moved to Hudson, New York. They liked Hudson so they decided to settle down there and raise a family. To this union, ten or eleven children were born. About half of them died in childhood.

Alexander purchased and managed a newspaper, "The Columbia Washington." He changed to name several times. In 1848 it became known as the The Hudson Daily Star. He served as the Editor from 1851-1873. The paper covered many topics, such as Morality, Temperance, Education, Agriculture, and General Intelligence.

In 1876, Alexander and Caroline moved to Unionville, Missouri . Only nine months later, Alexander died of Bright's Disease. Caroline later moved to live with her daughter Anna May Bonfoey and her husband Beverly Holcomb Bonfoey.
