Genevieve (Gene) Robinson – 90, passed away in the comfort of her home and family on Sunday morning, September 29, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 3, 1929, Gene was the only daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Werner) Gioia.

Gene grew up and attended schools in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to and following graduation, she worked as a nursing assistant for a private practice physician where she honed skills she aptly applied raising nine children. While vacationing in the Mad River Valley with a friend she met the love of her life, Lenord Robinson, and began a partnership in life and love that spanned 69 years of marriage.

Throughout the years, Gene, in addition to lovingly raising her large family, provided care for a number of children from the Valley and assisted in Lenord’s excavating business.

The foundation of Gene’s life was her family, her faith, and the many friends she and Lenord shared. A consummate cook and baker, she truly lived to care for her family and enjoyed being surrounded by their presence and love. Gene was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Waitsfield.

Gene is survived by her husband, Lenord; their children Kathy, Susan, Irene, Beth, Lenny, George, Joe, Bill, and Steve and their significant others; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Gene was predeceased by 4 brothers James, Raymond, Joseph and William Gioia..
