Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Mooney, age 90, of Madisonville, are scheduled for 11 A.M., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Brad Brock will officiate the service, and interment will be in the Madisonville Cemetery. A brief visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until service time Thursday, at the funeral home.

Helen Ray Mooney was born in Madisonville, Texas on June 14, 1928. Her parents were J.B. & Vera (Phillips) Alfred. Helen was a graduate of Sam Houston Teacher’s College and worked as a school teacher most of her life teaching mainly second grade, but some other grades, as well. Helen was a founding member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teaching Sorority in Madisonville. She loved to paint and work with ceramics and other crafts. Helen had lived in Houston for a short time but lived most of her life in Madisonville, and she was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Helen passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at her home in Madisonville. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. Surviving family members are husband, Jim Mooney of Madisonville; sons, David Mooney (Sandra) of Foley, AL and Gary Mooney (Kathy) of Madisonville and grandchildren, Jesse Mooney (Jessica), William Mooney (Bailey), Austin Mooney (Katie) and Holly Cyran (Jeff). Helen is also survived by great grandchildren, Hayes, Kenton, Cullen, Savanah, Sam, Conner, Elliott and Jake.
