Carolyn Stephens, age 77 of Robinson, IL and formerly of the Annapolis area, died Monday July 9, 2018 at 5:27 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN following a long period of declining health.
Born April 7, 1941 in Cuba, IL she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Hash) Burroughs. On September 1, 1962 she married Charles “Dean” Stephens and he survives.
Carolyn retired from the Community Unit # 1 School District where she worked as a bus driver for over 40 years. She was a member of the Hutsonville Christian Church, Hutsonville, IL. Carolyn and a group of ladies from the Hutsonville area got together as often as time and health would permit to play Canasta. In earlier years, Carolyn owned and operated a Ceramic Shop and was very active in Arts and Crafts. After Dean retired, Carolyn and Dean traveled extensively, visiting all but four of the 50 United States. Lately, she could be found at any event involving her Grandchildren; ball games, cheerleading and so on.
Survivors include her husband, Charles “Dean” Stephens, Robinson, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Julie Stephens, West Salem, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Andrew Harrison, Robinson, IL; four grandchildren, Allison and Laney Stephens, West Salem, IL, Kaitlyn VanArsdalen, Olney, IL, Tracy Harrison, Robinson, IL; sister-in-law, VerLea and Ferrel Fox, Seattle WA; a brother-in-law, George Strole, Phoenix, AZ; a nephew, Mark Strole, Mesa, AZ; a niece, Cheryl and Dennis Johnson, Seattle, WA and a niece Karen Strole, Denver, CO.
Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, Douglas Stephens in 1966 and a sister, Mrs. Norma J. Strole.
The funeral service will be Friday July 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Hutsonville, IL with Bro. Bill Wilkinson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday July 12, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Hutsonville, IL. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, IL.
