Commonly went by the name James, he was a son of John & Margaret Frost.
He married the widow Mary Ann Munro in 1882
. James was a licensed victualler. He took over the (temporary) license of the Rolleston Hotel, Christchurch in June 1882 when the owners "were in financial trouble" .. https://tinyurl.com/2awhvhkk
* On 9 May 1883 he was issued the Publican's License of the Rolleston Hotel, containing twelve rooms, inclusive of those required for the family.
* In May 1884 the hotel was again in financial trouble and he was bankrupt. At the Creditors Hearing James said that part of the money which he paid for the stock when he first took the hotel was his wife's money, which she held in her own right, from her first husband.

The friends of the late Michael James Frost, are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral, which will leave his late residence, Dixon-street, at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
