Peggy Jean Willingham McCoy died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 83.

A native of Beaumont, Mississippi, born July 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt and Golden Fanning Willingham.
Mrs. McCoy had been a long time member of McDowell Road Baptist Church before moving to Brandon and becoming a member of Brandon Baptist Church where she was an active in their Sunday School. She retired from the IRS in 1995 after 33 years of service.

Having known him since they were toddlers, Peggy married her husband, Jim, on January 11, 1952. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed cooking, and traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. She loved all things sports, especially baseball.

Peggy was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Terry McCoy, Jr. and a brother, Jerry Dewitt Willingham.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Terry “Jim” McCoy of Brandon; daughter, Lynn McCoy Brown, of McKinney, TX; son, Rodney Lee McCoy (Jamie), of Brandon; sister, Betty Lee Willingham, of Mobile, AL; grandchildren: Ashley Shelby (Chris), Doug Brown, Tyler McCoy, and Sam McCoy; great grandchildren: Peyton Shelby and Collin Shelby; and nephew, Dewitt “Dee’ Willingham (Kathryn).

Visitation with the family will begin after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
