Mishawaka-Diane Ruth Howard McNerney passed peacefully on Thursday, June 21 with family at her side. Diane was born Diane Ruth Kreiter on June 7, 1929 to Lelith (McKay) and Ralph Krieter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas; sister, Kathryn and granddaughter Lorita.
On April 9, 1949 she married Billie O. Howard, who preceded her in death, with whom she had three children, Jennifer (Jim) Meistrell of Lawrence, KS, Julia (Gary) Moore of Mesa AZ, and Jeff L. (Annie) Howard of Palm Bay, FL; grandchildren; April Krause of Tucson, AZ, Amy Chouinard of Mesa, AZ, Timothy Krause of Ft. Meyers, FL, Gary Ted (Erlyne) Moore of Tomball, TX, Sara (Steve) Bizzaro of Mishawaka and Shaun (Inna) Howard of Toronto, Canada and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Maryann (Jim) Lafree, Janan Hoover; brother, John (Gale) Kreiter. On October 4, 2004 she married Robert Arthur McNerney, who survives. She is also survived by two step-children, Cathy (Jim) McPhee of Woodburn, Oregon and Chris McNerney (Beth) of Indianapolis.
Diane graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1947and worked at Ball-Band/Uniroyal until she retired. Diane was an active member of the Mishawaka Alumni Association and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka. Diane and her mother and sisters loved to travel together on cruises and other vacations. Diane's world was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they arrived. Family holidays with her siblings and extended family were her joy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24th from 2-6 p.m. and Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, June 25th at 11 a.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544
