Karen Rose Leerssen Burgess, 67, of Int'l Falls, MN, died Thursday May 10, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center.She was born to Theodore and Lydia (Crawford) Leerssen on October 23, 1939 in Int'l Falls, MN. She grew up in Loman, MN and graduated from Indus High School in 1957. She has lived in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Sarasota, FL, Sacramento, CA and returned to Int'l Falls in 1990. She worked in the families sign painting business and operated her own dog grooming business for over thirty years. Karen Loved to sing and play the piano she also gave accordion lessons. She enjoyed needle point, crocheting, bird watching, pet and baby sitting, spending time with family and friends, playing Dominos and Bingo. She was a volunteer driver for people who needed rides for medical appointments. She was a member of the Hospital auxiliary and First Lutheran Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Jeffrey, Brothers, Kenneth, Ralph and Gerald Leerssen, and brother-in-law Dean Wheelock.Karen is survived by her son, Mike (Charmaine) Burgess of Minneapolis, MN, daughters, Denise Hall of Int'l Falls, Conni Hall of Atlanta, GA, Wendy (Kurt) Jamrus of Sacramento, CA, brother, Eugene (Rose) Leerssen of Int'l Falls, MN, sisters, Joyce Wheelock of Loman, MN, Beverly (John) Beck of Rainy Lake, Mn, sisters-in-law Virginia Leerssen of Austin TX, and Anita Leerssen of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Essa (Cory)Eide, Jeremiah (Aundrea Westin) Howard, Rebecca (Steven Schultz) Hall, Kimberlee Atchley, Jared (Andrea) Cogar, Gavin Cogar, Cynthia Cogar Spc., Kurt Jamrus Jr., and Bobby Jamrus, great grandchildren, Cohlton Schultz and Lillian Howard. Special friend George Wheelock and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Monday May 14, 2007 form 5-7 p.m. at the Green-Larsen MortuaryFuneral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. On Tuesday May 15, 2007 at the First Lutheran Church in Int'l Fall, MN. Interment will be in the Riverside cemetery in Loman, MN.
