Billie Tinant Murphy was born with her from-the-womb best friend and twin, Bobbie on May 23rd, 1973 in Valentine, Nebraska to Dan and Sheri (Turner) Tinant. Big sister, Karma, was mostly thrilled to have two little sisters, and they all enjoyed getting a brother, Deon, two years later. They made their first home in a little house in Lakeview right next to her paternal grandparents, which brought the many wonderful opportunities of a large extended family with it. She also loved visiting her maternal grandparents and aunts and uncles in Valentine and the fun that visiting town brings.
Billie attended elementary school at Lakeview and high school at Todd County and Valentine. She continued her education at Colby, Kansas. Each of these schools brought life-long friendships with them. She began her career in banking in Rapid City, South Dakota and ended it at Wells Fargo. She gained many friends through her work too.
Billie married James (JP) Murphy in 2004 and they welcomed their daughter Grace Mildred in 2008, making their home in Valentine. Grace was the absolute light of Billie’s life. They enjoyed doing many things together including visits to the country, reading, snuggling, and doing random acts of kindness. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always looked for reasons to celebrate.
Billie made friends and cared for so many her entire life. She gave to those with less, listened to countless hours of worries and woes and celebrated life’s moments with passion for all things life brings and the Yankees.
Billie passed away on July 1, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Bob and Gick Tinant and Bill and Mick Turner and her uncle, Bil Tinant. Those blessed for having shared her life and who will continue to share the spirit of who Billie was are husband JP Murphy, daughter Grace, parents Dan and Sheri Tinant, sisters Karma Tinant and husband Sam, Bobbie Cox and husband Jim, and brother Deon and wife Michelle as well as nephews Robert, Daniel, Turner and Thorn and nieces Sunny, Faith, Torrie, Taryn, Tylee, Kennedie and Keelani and the Murphy family, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
