Beverly Carol Lewis was born on September 23, 1938, in Sac City, IA, to parents Phil and Ida (Zimmer) Lewis.

Bev grew up and attended school in Sac City. After graduating high school she attended Methodist College for nursing in Des Moines, IA, obtaining her BSN.

On September 20, 1959, Bev married Bill Duncan at the First Christian Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with two children, David and Donna.

Bev was a very active member of the First Christian Church where she served as an elder, CWF secretary and treasurer. She helped with youth group, morning prayer group and participated in bible study. She also volunteered her time as a school board member for Sac City.

She loved her career as a nurse. She worked at BV Hospital in Storm Lake before working as Dr. Gibson’s nurse in his office in Sac City. Bev then worked at Loring Hospital until retiring in the late 90’s.

Bev loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed being able to teach her grandkids to fish. Camping and fishing trips to the Iowa Great Lakes were among some of her favorites. She once enjoyed a three month stay in Alaska and always spoke of how memorable that trip was.

Bev liked to quilt and sew. She loved the quilting retreats she went on and often referred to them as “sweat shops”. She, along with other quilters and friends, would gather monthly to quilt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Bev’s memory are her husband, Bill Duncan of Sac City, IA; son David (Lisa) Duncan of Tulsa, OK; daughter Donna (Tom) Keesling of Oskaloosa, IA; grandchildren Alex (Jamie) Duncan, Amanda and Brandon Keesling; sisters-in-law Dyllis Lewis of Napa, CA, and Jan Lewis of Cedar Rapids, IA; many nieces, nephews and extended family members, especially Nancy Domino who was like a sister to Bev.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Ida Lewis; brothers Robert, Ted and Cliff Lewis; and sister Irene Austin.
