Oakdale-Funeral service for William Charles Richmond, 75, will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Oakdale Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Elden Mayo and Rev. Larry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Cryer Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 3-10 p.m. at Oakdale Bible Baptist Church. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his pastor and church, where he was a hard worker. Charles loved to “joke” with others and he was always ready to help anyone and everyone. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for 47 years. He loved his garden and working with his tractor. But, most of all, he loved his family very much and was a special “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren. Charles’ memory will be forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his precious wife of 55 years, Audrey Richmond; his son, Craig Richmond and wife, Gwen; three daughters, Deidra Brady and husband, Melvin, Kim Richmond, and Angela Ashworth; one brother, Harold Richmond and wife, Carolyn; five sisters, Audrey Holcomb, Marguerite Loyd, Martha Mollette and husband, Larry, Norma Sue Jeansonne and husband, Rodney, and Lana Faye Paul and husband, Curtis; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as a host of friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Beaulah Richmond; one brother, Ralph Richmond; and two sisters, Eva Mae Hayden and Shirley McCullough.
