Rhonda Lee (Garecht) Duncan
July 21, 1956 - August 15, 2016

Rhonda Duncan (Garecht) DuncanIt is with both joy and sorrow, that we announce that Rhonda Duncan went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 15, 2016. She was born, Rhonda Lee Garecht on July 21, 1956 at Fort Riley, Kansas. She grew up in Lodi and graduated from Tokay High School in 1974.

At age 7 she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. At age 9 she felt called by God to be a Pastor's wife and joyously responded "YES". On December 28, 1974 she married Douglas Duncan. They spent the next 17 years serving as associate Pastors at churches in California, Iowa, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Georgia, back to California and Washington (again). They returned to Lodi (as their permanent residence) in 1989.

In spite of the onset of severe rheumatoid arthritis she served as the bookkeeper for Century Christian School from 1989 to 1995. Her desk became her pulpit and a counseling center. She lovingly (and patiently) listened to, prayed for and counseled school parents, students and staff alike.

After 28 years of battling with rheumatoid arthritis, her frail frame finally succumbed. She passed from this life having served the Lord faithfully, physically enduring what few understand and teaching us all through her suffering, what a true disciple looks like. She passed into eternity surrounded by her family and loved ones. We as a family appreciate the prayers offered by so many of you on her behalf during her struggles. We cherish your prayers for us as we now travel this difficult road.

Rhonda was a member of Cross Culture Church in Lodi. Sunday, spent in the house of the Lord, was the highlight of her week. She loved to worship (the louder the better) and to hear the Word from her Pastor (and son) Jon Duncan. She took the mandates of the Word seriously and was not just a hearer of the Word but a doer of the Word also.

She has taken hold of the promise of Christ and has inherited eternal life. We do not despair; death has no victory or sting for Christ has overcome! Our hope in Christ will never disappoint, it will never leave us broken, but instead, we will be in His peace, healed, whole and fulfilled: Her joy is now complete!

She is survived by Doug, her husband of 41 years; three sons Jon (Angela) Duncan, Jeffrey (Sarah E.) Duncan and Jeremy (Sarah M.) Duncan; 9 grandchildren, with another on the way. She is also survived by her mother Ronna Garecht, sisters Ranai (Dennis) Jones and Brenda (Tom) Orozco and her brother James R. Garecht, Jr.

A celebration of Rhonda Duncan's Life in Christ (both past and present) will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11 am at Faith Community Church 18621 N. Highway 99, Acampo, CA 95220. We, as the family, appreciate the generosity of the Pastors, Staff and congregation of Faith Community Church for their kindness to our household.
