HASTINGS, MI - Ivan Edward Thomas, age 83, of Hastings passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, unexpectedly, of natural causes at his home. Ivan was born in Hastings, on April 30, 1935, to the late Walter and Irma (Blain) Thomas. He married Alice Thomas, at a ceremony in Hastings in 1978. Ivan was a lifelong resident of the area and proudly worked in quality-control at Nelson Metal in Grandville, until his retirement in 1997.He enjoyed antiques and time spent with his wife at auctions and garage sales.Ivan loved to travel around the country, especially to Kentucky with Alice.He was preceded in death by his parents; infant-brother; sisters, Marion Carter and Sally Picklesimer and stepfather, Lyle Lancaster.Ivan is survived by the love of his life, Alice of 40 years; daughters, Delinda (Chris) Lindsey, of Morley, and Cheryl (Paul) Clous, of Hastings; son, Nathan Lancaster, of Hastings; sister, Mary Nichols; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.At Ivan’s request, cremation has taken place; a private graveside service will be held at Fuller Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lauer Family Funeral Homes – Hastings, Michigan.
