Phyllis Louise Bishop, of New York and Nevada, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Lithia Springs, Georgia. She was eighty-two years old.

Phyllis was born in New York City to Walter and Veronica Cleghorn in 1936. She graduated from Julia Richman High School in Manhattan in 1953 and married Lloyd Edwin Bishop in 1957. They had two sons and moved from Queens to Suffolk County, Long Island in 1964 to raise their family.

Phyllis was a bank teller, assistant manager, and financial counselor at various Long Island banks. In 1997, Phyllis and Lloyd retired to Las Vegas, following two sets of longtime friends who had already retired to the area. Phyllis held several volunteer posts while in retirement, and worked part-time for the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services. She moved to Georgia in 2017 to be near family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her sons, Lloyd Carlyle Bishop of New York City and David Michael Bishop of Douglasville, Georgia.

Phyllis was a joyful person with a wonderful, off-beat sense of humor and an extraordinary love for her family and friends.

Her sons are bringing Phyllis' remains to Las Vegas, where she loved living in retirement. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery, which will also serve as Phyllis' final resting place. A New York gathering will be announced to family and friends. Her husband Lloyd, a Korean War veteran, is interred in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Loving Father, we offer a prayer for our deceased.
