An honorably discharged war time veteran, Donald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard, 1950-1953. Following his military career, Donald's profession in Management and Sales within the transportation industry lasted forty years, until retirement from, Carolina Freight Carriers.

A dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Donald's family was paramount in his life. He was the pillar of strength for his family. During the summers, Donald enjoyed boating with family and friends. In his spare time, he tenderly cared for his flower gardens. Donald found great comfort and strength in his Catholic Faith. A longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton, he served as Eucharistic minister, Lector, Adult CCD teacher, and a member of the church choir. For many years, he was a member and President of the Jaycee's in East Long Meadow, MA. Donald will be best remembered for his love of family.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Joan Helen Hartley; and, four children.
