Ramona M. Shupe, age 81, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday morning at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

She was a lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church; a member of Asbury Pep Club, Andrew Johnson Women's Club, Andrew Johnson Ruby Red Hat Society, and U.S.S. Greeneville Submarine Marketing Committee. She also helped the Greene County Election Commission with elections.

Survivors include her daughter: Vivian Shupe Capritto of Georgia; one son: Charles Shupe Jr. (Mary) of Washington State; grandson: Michael Shupe of Oregon; two nephews: Jack (Janie) Godbold and Bill (Caroline) Godbold both of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles L. Shupe Sr.; mother and step-father: Harriett (Galbreath) and Clyde Brooks; father: James Ramsey; sister: Anne Ramsey Godbold.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7 o'clock Sunday evening in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jeannie Higgins will officiate. The committal service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens by 9:30 to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lyle Montieth, Fred Laughters, Ken Thompson, Hart Covington, Brett Wilhoit, Tommy Blue Armitage, Wesley Browning, and Don Averett. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Montgomery, Hovie Gregg, Elmer Tweed, the staff of Morning Pointe, and Amedisys Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society.
