Eli N. Sides was the fourth of nine known children of Jacob Sides (1793-1840) (was he born a Seitz?) and Maria (went by Mary) Spach (became Spaugh) (1793-1868), who married 17 Feb 1818 at Friedberg, Davidson County, North Carolina.

Eli was a life-long farmer, in the vicinity of Friedberg, a Moravian community then on the border of Stokes and Rowan Counties, North Carolina, now on the border of Forsyth and Davidson Counties. Eli married Jane Longworth (1832-1906) on 22 Feb 1853 at Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Eli and Jane were the parents of eleven known children:

1. Anna Caroline Sides (1854-1854)
2. Jacob S. Sides (1855-1893)
3. Alfred Sides (1858-1921)
4. Samuel Albert Sides (1860-1951)
5. Edward D. Sides (1862-1949)
6. Salome (Sarah or Saloma) Sides Hartman (1864-1949)
7. Martin A. Sides (1867-1938)
8. Augustus Robert Sides (1869-1944)
9. Theodore Sides (1872-1872)
10. Lenora (Leonora?) Sides Snyder (1872-1913)
11. Abigail Sides (1874-1875)

A total of 41 grandchildren for Eli have been identified thus far.

We are very fortunate to have links to Eli's parents, wife, all eleven of his known children, and seven of his eight known siblings as included below.
