According to the OHP report, Ramona Smith, 67, and Laura Evans, 63, died as a result of the collision that happened at approximately 7:50 a.m. July 4. The collision happened on the Muskogee Turnpike (Oklahoma 351) approximately six miles east of Broken Arrow in Wagoner County.

The report states Smith was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus westbound, and Evans was her passenger. Tobby Jackson, 48, of Fort Gibson, was driving a 2015 GMC pickup at a reduced speed being followed by Smith's vehicle. Smith's vehicle struck Jackson's vehicle in the rear, and both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder. Jackson and his passenger, Rebecca Jackson, also 48 and of Fort Gibson, refused treatment at the scene.

The cause of the collision was listed as inattentive driving. The Jacksons were wearing seat belts, Evans was not, and troopers were unsure whether Smith was wearing a seat belt, the report states.

OHP is requesting anyone who possibly saw the gray Dodge Stratus either slowly moving, or on the shoulder prior to the crash, to call OHP at (918) 683-3256, said Capt. Paul Timmons.
