It is not known what happened to the youngest child, David Augustus Rothrock (b. 10 Jan 1853 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. David was living with his parents in 1860 but not in 1870. He was too young to have fought in the Civil War and he is not listed as having a grave in any of the local cemeteries. He may have left home or died between 1860 and 1870.

In 1870 the parents and both daughters were living at Broadbay Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina. Neither of the two daughters married.
