Civil War Veteran. Thomas Poynton Ives was the olny son of Moses Brown Ives and Annie Allen Dorr. He is grandson of Thomas Poynton Ives and Hope Brown, a great grandson of Nicholas Brown I and Rhoda Jenckes, and a descendent of Chad Brown, one of the earliest settlers of Rhode Island, contemporary of Roger Williams. Among other things, Mr. Ives was owner of the farm on Potomomut Neck, now Goddard Park, at the time of his service in the Civil War. Goddard Memorial State Park is in Warwick, Rhode Island.
