A 39-year-old Warrensburg man was sentenced to eight years in prison for the shooting death of a woman that he said occurred accidentally while they were having sex.

Russell Shuey, pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the July 2018 death of 27-year-old Sabrina Shelton.
Shuey told detectives he and Shelton had [been partying before deciding]to have sex. Court records indicate Shuey said a pistol fell out of holster, landed on top of Shelton and discharged, striking Shelton in the chest.

The involuntary manslaughter charge alleged Shuey handled a loaded 9 mm pistol in a negligent manner, causing Shelton's death.
Shuey also was given a two-year consecutive sentence for resisting arrest in a second case.
