WILLIAMS -- At his residence in East Portland, on Sunday, May 16th, 1886, Elijah Williams, aged 76 years. Deceased was born in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, August 4th, 1809. The immediate cause of his death was stoppage of the circulation, owing to general debility from old age. Mr. Williams came to Oregon in 1851, leaving Hancock county, Ohio, on the 14th of February, of that year, and arriving in Oregon in September following. He resided in Salem until the death of his wife in 1874. He leaves four children, Hon. Richard William, of Portland; Major George Williams, of Salem; Mrs. M. A. Stratton, of Oregon City, and Emmet Williams, of Portland. His remains were brought to this city last (Monday) evening, and taken to the residence of his son, Major George Williams, of Salem. The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock today, from the residence to the Odd Fellows cemetery. Services will be at the grave.
