A commercial building contractor, he died at his residence in Powder Springs, Ga., at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003. He was 48 and a native of Baton Rouge. A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Marquette Avenue at Government Street, Baton Rouge, at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, celebrated by the Rev. Miles Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Vicki B. Cheek, Powder Springs; mother and stepfather, Nancy L. and John B. Conn of Port Allen; a daughter, Morgan Cheek of Montgomery, Ala.; a son, Richard E. Cheek III of New Roads; two sisters, Susan C. Werner, Lafayette, and Diana C. Burns, Baton Rouge; a brother, Rodney D. Cheek, Fort Collins, Colo.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Ruth Wilson, Charleston, S.C. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Eugene Cheek.
