Clifford Curtis Taylor Jr., age 96, of Upper St. Clair, was called to heaven to be with his beloved wife Jane on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Cliff was a long-time resident of Friendship Village, leaving many friends there. He was married to Jane for 65 years, having three sons, David W. (Barbara), Richard C. (Linda), and Thomas S. (Sandra), five grandchildren, Christine (Paul) Woodford, Laura (Tommy) Sands, Jennifer (Matt) Hogg, Christopher and Eric Taylor, and five great grands, Timothy and Michael Woodford, and Morgan, Miles and Jane Sands. He loved them all. His special friend, Ferne Peters, was lovingly at his side, comforting him at his passing. Cliff grew up internationally, attending Junior High in South Africa and High School in London. Upon graduating from Harvard, he was recruited for the Manhattan Project as a chemical engineer. During his long career with Koppers Company he took his family to Brazil where he managed the building of a chemical plant - the first of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. He loved to serve in his church, Christ the Redeemer, in Canonsburg where he worshipped each Sunday, and with the Bethel Park Rotary Club where led as president and then travelled to the Amazon to administer vaccines as a part of the PolioPlus campaign to eradicate polio in the world. He lived a life of service to others and was happy to be translated to heaven to serve with the One who washed His disciples' feet. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at Friendship Village of South Hills, 1290 Boyce Rd, Upper St Clair, PA., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 AM. Cliff will be buried in Loveland, Colorado next to his wife and pioneer ancestors.
