A retired school teacher of 43 years, which included teaching at Valley Institute, McLean High School and James Madison High School both in Fairfax County, Virginia, Virginia High School, Abingdon High School and for the last 26 years, John S. Battle High School.
Mrs. French was a graduate of Wallace High School and East Tennessee State University. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of being the owner of Mountain View Angus Farm of Bristol, Virginia, her family homestead.
She was a member of Wallace United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. French, parents E.A. and Viola Hutton, and her brother, Malcolm P. Hutton.
She is survived by her only son, Dr. Eddie French and wife Amy of Bristol, VA; Granddaughter, Amanda French Pegg and husband, Dr. Michael Pegg of Grenada, MS; great-grandson, Luke Hutton Pegg of Grenada, MS; brother, Bobby Hutton of Bristol, VA; sister-in-law, Ann Hutton of Charlotte, NC; four nieces and nephews; special longtime friend, Don Carrier; and special friends, R.D. and Emelie Eads, Johnny and Sandra Tester, Teresa Sierra, and members of the Wallace United Methodist Church.
Her family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. John Green, the Wellmont Hospice House nurses and staff, and her wonderful caregivers.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Monday, July 2, 2018 at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luther Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Fleenor Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be R.D. Eads, Johnny Tester, Robert Hutton, David Hutton, Tim Alley, and Michael Pegg. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Akard Funeral Home.
