Thelma Maie Peak, 88, of Eldorado, and formerly of West Frankfort, departed this life Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Thelma was born March 6, 1914, in West Frankfort, a daughter of Arlie Boner and Jessie Maie (Watts) Boner. She married Obe Hayes, who died in 1963. She later married Vernon Peak who died in 1986.

Mrs. Peak worked many years for Sohn's Mens Wear in West Frankfort, and at the deli counter at Heights Market. She became a member of First Christian Church in 1957. She was an avid worker in the church, being the secretary of the Harmony Sunday school class, and also a member of the Letter Writers' Group of the church.

She is survived by one son, Jim Hayes of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Toni Lucas and her husband Walter of Eldorado; two grandchildren, Staci Warren of Marion and Natalie Hayes of Aiken, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Warren of Marion and Saxon Taylor of Aiken, S.C.; one brother, Glen Boner and his wife Ruth of West Frankfort; one brother-in-law, Milton Wood of West Frankfort; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and one sister, Faye Wood.

Funeral services were held at Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Fox officiating.
