Constance (Connie) Faye Evans, born March 21, 1949 died June 27, 2018. Connie was preceded in death by her parents Augustus and Myrtle Evans and her sister Janet Gail Evans. She is survived by her brother Dr. Carl M. Evans; two nieces, Dr. Angie Chaney (Chad) and Pam Hammock (Randall); three great nieces, Blair Hammock, Ciana Chaney, and Maggie Chaney; two great nephews, Brantley Hammock and Isaiah Chaney. Connie graduated from Athens High School in 1968 and the University of North Alabama in 1972. She earned an MA in 1976 from the Chicago Art Institute. She was certified EEO Counselor and Helpline Rape Response Counselor. In 2009 she was the team leader for a Habitat for Humanity house. Connie did a lot of volunteer work in the community. Before retirement, Connie had been the arts and crafts director for the U.S. Army. She was a member of the Athens First United Methodist Church Choir and worked with the church flower ministry. She was the treasurer for the Athens Limestone National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). There will be a Memorial Service for Connie at McConnell Funeral Home on Friday July 13, 2018 at 3 P.M. with Dr. Carl Evans officiating. Visitation will be before the service from 2-3 P.M. There will be a family committal service to follow in Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church of Athens, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or your favorite charity.
