Thelma Gloria Morris, 70 of Pine Bluff, AR was born to the late Edgar and Inez Alston Morris on April 6, 1948 in Parkdale, Arkansas. Thelma was the youngest of five children.
A graduate of Wilmot High School, she attended Arkansas AM&N College (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science.
After graduation, Thelma moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she worked as a librarian at the Public Library System of Cincinnati - Hamilton County. She retired after over thirty years of service.
After retirement, she returned to Pine Bluff to be closer to her family in Arkansas.
She united with Mount Pleasant AME Church where she faithfully served on the Kitchen Committee.
Eager to keep herself busy, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Dollarway Jr. High School.
Thelma departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Edgar and Inez Morris, her brother - Ernest Morris, and her sister – Susie Liggins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings – Edgar Morris, Jr. and Willodean (John) Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM, at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church, 1201 N. Magnolia Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601. Rev. Reginal W. Alexander, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery in Parkdale, AR by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Her body will lie in-state Friday, 12:15 p.m., until service.
