Joseph Oscar Dodson, 81, of Blanchard, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his home. The son of Joe W. Dodson and Elsie Mae (Morphis) Dodson, he was born July 13, 1936, in Okemah, Oklahoma.

Joe married Veda Mae Searcy on January 28, 1955, in Paden, Oklahoma. He was called by God to preach at the age of 13 and for 69 years he pastored churches in Noble, Altus, and Norman, Oklahoma, and most recently in Mulberry, Kansas. He served many years on the Blanchard Camp Meeting Board and the Sapulpa Camp Meeting Board and was a member of Trinity Holiness Church in Blanchard. In addition to his ministry, Joe worked as a supervisor for Fred Jones Ford for 16 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting pocket knives and old books, fishing, woodworking, going to garage sales, and collecting and working on antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Veda Dodson; his father Joe W. Dodson; his mother and step-father, Elsie and Burch Kellogg; a daughter, Cindy Hunt; one grandson, Anthony Boxley; one granddaughter, Heather Burdge; and three brothers, JB Dodson, Charles Kellogg, and Bennie Kellogg.

Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Boxley of Blanchard, Kay Coleman of Blanchard, Laura Meyers and her husband, Kim, of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Dana Mize and her husband, Jarrod, of Blanchard; one son, Marvin Dodson and his wife, Sherrie, of Hanford, California; nineteen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Velma Luellen of Moore, Phyllis Earnest of Oklahoma City, and Linnie Kellogg and her husband, Ray, of Kellyville; two brothers, Douglas Kellogg and his wife, Peggy, of Broken Arrow and Ronnie Kellogg and his wife, Karen, of Paden; and many other loved ones and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 6, 2018, at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
