Cecilia H. Shembab, M.D., 87, a retired pediatrician, passed away on March 26, 2003.

Dr. Shembab was born on June 9, 1915 in Superior, WI and received her degree in 1941 from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1942 and was a practicing physician for 56 years. Extraordinarily wise, warm, loving, vibrant, comforting and compassionate, "Dr. Cele" was beloved by her family, her friends, her colleagues, her patients, and the families of her patients. In 1997, she was awarded the Dr. Joseph Ehrlich Medal from the Maricopa County Medical Society in Arizona; it reads: "We honor Dr. Cecilia H. Shembab for her years of quiet, dedicated care for her small patients and her unusual ability to bring peace and hope to the most anxious of parents while instilling trust in her patients through her countenance of love and caring." Words are not enough to express how much we all miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Alcott on December 18, 1983.

She is survived by her stepson, Richard Alcott and his wife, Lee; step-grandson Trent Alcott and his wife, Susan; brother, Jerome Shembab and his wife, Karen; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 5 great-nieces, 1 great-nephew, and 2 great-great nieces.
