Margie Crowder Harris departed this life on Thursday, June 28th, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 11, 1936, to the late Pat Crowder Sr. and Maude Pipkins Crowder. She was 81 years old, a native of Keithville, La., and a resident of Baton Rouge, La. Margie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, La., in 1955. She attended Grambling State University where she met and married Curtis J. Harris Sr. on April 27, 1957, in Baton Rouge at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was employed as a supervisor and dormitory counselor at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired until her retirement in 1999. Margie was blessed with two loving children, Curtis James Harris II (Cheryl) and Deirdre Harris Stepter (Burnell). She will be affectionately remembered by her husband and children; one sister Blanche Jefferson, and a sister-in-law Julia Banks; five grandchildren: Martinique, Krystle, Christopher, Curtis (Jasmine), and Courtney; five great-grandchildren: Deja, Richard, Krystiana, Amaya, and Ariana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives. Margie was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers: Hersia Crowder and Pat Crowder Jr.; sister Marie Hampton, and a sibling who died in infancy. Her funeral services will be Friday, July 6, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (1120 Myrtle Walk) starting with a family visitation at 9 am and Mass at 10 am. Interment will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery (4045 North St.).
