Marvin E. "Sam" Long, 62, of Ottumwa, died June 25, 2018 at home.
He was born January 6, 1956 in Ottumwa to Donald and Joann Forbes Long. He married Jennifer Moore on August 1, 2016.
A 1974 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he had worked at the Ottumwa Brick Plant, Dad's Root Beer, for over 16 years at Everco, and then for Ajinomoto and for 12 years at Wal-Mart.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, his Pepsi, tinkering with his toys and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Jennifer; children, Misti (Todd) Deutschle, Sam (Carrie) Long, Kevin Long (Courtney Heller), Anthony (Jessica) Nace and Andrew Moore (Tyler Scully); grandchildren, Cayla Glosser, Conner Glosser, Kaison Deutschle, Kale Deutschle, Brandon Davis, Tucker Long, Gracie Long and Ever-After Moore; his mother, Joann Long; 3 siblings, Wayne (Kathy) Long, Marlene (David) Meyer and Jolene Curtis; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Long and beloved dog, Sadie.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Cremation will follow the visitation.
A time to further celebrate his life will follow at Izaak Walton League on Thursday.
