Ruth B. McCormick, 88, of Batavia, OH, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at Fred Thomas’s Home in Georgetown. She was born October 4, 1929 to the late Carl and Lydia Bissantz on their Mt. Holly Farm. She was the youngest of 5 children and the only girl. She was the widow of the late William B. McCormick who passed away in 2004.

Ruth was carried into Batavia Evangelical United Brethren Church in a laundry basket and attended that church her whole life of 88 years. She attended Amelia Elementary and graduated from Batavia High School in 1947. She married Bill McCormick in 1950 and was blessed with two daughters Vicki and Nanci. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother and worked with Cincinnati Bell until she retired. After retirement she led an active life and lovingly invested herself in family, friends, church and faith.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Vicki (Rick) Olson and Nanci (Chris) Bauer; her adored grandchildren, Heather (Cory) Shreve, Stephanie (Brian) Miller and Andrea (Nick) Youngberg; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Colby and Caden Shreve, Luke Miller and Leif, Veil, and Maren Youngberg; special cousin and friend, Fred Thomas; sister-in-law and best friend, Lois Bissantz and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her “boys” as she called them, Marvin, Neal, Howard and Harold “Kite” Bissantz.

Family and friends may visit from 9:30 AM, until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Faith United Methodist Church, 180 N. 5th St., Batavia, under the direction of E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia. Rev. Rick Olson and Rev. Nicole Henderson-Johns will be officiating. Interment will follow at Batavia-Union Cemetery, Batavia.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
