Betty J. Hatchett, 96, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Silver Cross in Rock Island, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. There will be a short visitation at Wendt Funeral Home on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., at which time the procession will leave for the cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside services must be in line by 1:40 p.m. at the latest.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Betty J. Broadston was born in Des Moines, IA, on March 8, 1922, to Perry and Beulah (Bond) Broadston. On May 3, 1943, in Fort Pierce, FL, she married Louis Hatchett, who preceded her in death on December 24, 2006.

She graduated with the Rock Island High School Class of 1940, and was employed in the accounting department of John Deere Industrial Equipment Company in Moline, for twenty years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the former First Christian Church in Moline, a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #285 in Rock Island, and the former Moline Lady Elks. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and working puzzles, and loved traveling all over the United States with her husband.

Betty is survived by a son, James Hatchett of Rock Island; a daughter, Susan (David) Carmack of Moline; granddaughters, Jamie (Mike) Bauschka, Keri (John Heenan) Roby of Frankfort, IL, and Kristine (Steve) Graf of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Macy, Connor, Emma, Brody, and Rose; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Johannes of Moline.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Johannes, her sister, Irma Broadston, and in 2013, her granddaughter, Dr. Amy Hatchett.
