Ouida Inalyn "Lynn" Norwood Austin, 93, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015. Graveside service: 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: May be made to Travis Avenue Baptist Church, 800 W. Berry St., Fort Worth, Texas 76110. Ouida Inalyn Norwood Austin was born in Retta to John Jinks and Mattie Beulah Winnett Norwood on March 16, 1921. She grew up on a farm in Johnson County and graduated from Burleson High School in 1939. She attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser and as an operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone during World War II. She married her sweetheart from seventh grade, Paul Austin, and they were together for over 72 years until he passed away in 2014. Lynn was part of the Greatest Generation that stayed at home during World War II and worked, saved money for life after the war and managed on ration books. She and Paul became active members of Travis Avenue Baptist Church when he returned from the Southwest Pacific in 1945. She was a great hostess and cook, and her lemon pie was a regular request from her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors: Her loving daughters, Wanda Kiser and husband, Phil, Sandra Nolte and Paula Mackey and husband, George; grandsons, Eugene Olson, Steven Olson and wife, Devra, John Lindsey and Paul Mackey; and great-grandson, Mason Olson.
