Jerry Schmidt, 80, of Whitney passed away July 2, 2018 in Clifton. He was born in Valley Mills on January 22, 1938 to Hans W. and Zula (Worley) Schmidt.
He lived in Vaughan most of his early life, attending school there through the 3rd grade. In 1956 he graduated from Abbott High School. He met the love of his life and best friend, Ann Hayes and they were married in 1958.
For 18 years they lived in Hillsboro then moved to Waco in 1976. He worked for M&M Mars for 25 years before retiring. After retirement they moved to Whitney where he lived for the next 21 years.
Jerry became a Christian at the age of 14 at Vaughan Baptist Church and was a loyal servant of his Lord. He and Ann worked with the church bus ministry while at Columbus Ave. Baptist Church in Waco and then with the bus ministry and after school program at Whitney First Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Floyed and Floy Hayes; 2 grand daughters, Lindsey Renee Schmidt and Amy Renee Schmidt and brother-in-law, Floyed Dan Hayes. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann; son, Rickey, grand daughters and great-grand children.
Funeral services will held July 5, 2018. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park...M_M
