Kay Albert Wilson, 95, passed away at the Beckley, West Virginia Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Don Wilson and Nell [Jenkins] Wilson.
Kay graduated from Stoco High School in 1940 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1941 and served on the USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier as a Dive Bomber. He was shot down many times. He was discharged as a Chief Petty Officer. He served in the US Navy for five years and three months.
He served as a Scout Master, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and VITA volunteer. He retired from Mullens Grocery Company where he was a bookkeeper. He was a member of Corrine Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Velva Wilson, and by his sons, Glen R. Wilson and Jerry Allen Wilson.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Newsome, Sharon Simmons, Kenny Wilson, and Vicky Wrenn; a brother, Gerald Wilson; and two daughters-in-law, Mable Wilson and Yvonne Wilson; and many grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grandchildren.
Service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Rose & Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with his great grandsons Joshua Wilson and Joshua Combs officiating, and his grandson Jay Wilson singing.
