Daughter of Daniel Lewis (1775-1845) & Ruth née Mabbett (1777-1854), Elizabeth was born about 1811/12 in Dutchess County, New York, most likely in Attlebury. Wife of Benjamin F Hoag. Mother of three.

Her inscription on the Hoag monument, below that of her husband's, is very worn & mostly illegible. However, the Illinois state death index indicates she died March 22, 1891.

Of her children:

1). John P Hoag (born c. 1832/33 in Dutchess Co., NY, probably in Stanford- ?, last record found was the 1860 St Charles, IL census). John is believed to have served in Co. I of the 89th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. No death record found but a military marker for John P Hoag was requested (limited info) in 1902 for the North Cemetery, St. Charles. No such marker has been found, however.

2). James (see link)

3). Charles Hoag (27 March 1836 Dutchess Co., NY, probably Stanford- 22 Aug 1910 Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX, burial unknown). He married Delia Bannon, daughter of Patrick Bannon & Anne McElroy, on May 15th, 1873, Cook Co., IL. Father of three: John Thomas Hoag, James Henry "Harry" Hoag & Jennie Edith (Thomas E) Windle. His wife's marker is next to the Hoag family monument in this cemetery. See her entry for details on their children.
