Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Franklin R. and Sarah E. (Balthaser) Hoffman. Larry graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School in 1963. He worked for Empire Steel for 30 years; then Precision Technology for 7 years; and last for Morgan Corporation for 7 1/2 years, retiring December 31, 2011. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mt. Penn. Larry was an avid Yankees and Steelers fan; liked Elvis; and enjoyed going to carnivals and picnics with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife is son: Todd F. Hoffman, companion of Kelly Ryan, Exeter Twp.; daughter: Shelly L. Lentz, wife of Jeff Lentz, Hamburg; and five grandchildren: Nicole Light; Jaclyn (Light) Gold; Ryan Hoffman; Hope Hoffman; and Brock Hoffman. Larry is also survived by a niece: Robin (Stiefel), wife of Gary Phillips; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister: Anna Mae (Hoffman), widow of Richard Stiefel; and nephew: Richard Stiefel, husband of Tara Stiefel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A visitation will be held in the funeral home Saturday 10:00 to 10:30 am. Burial will be private in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp.
