Bob was born to Burdette and Emma Hogan Dobie on Sept. 29, 1929 in Wimberley, Texas and was one of eight siblings.
Bob served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant stationed in Japan and fought in Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. He then worked as a civil service fireman in several locations in Texas, including the old Austin Bergstrom Air Force Base, the Fort Sam Houston Army Post in San Antonio and then moved over to Fort Sam's Camp Bullis, the maneuvering grounds for U.S. Army, Air Force and Marines combat units situated about 17 miles NW of San Antonio.
He married Clara Mae Smith Waggoner of San Marcos on March 2, 1970. They eventually settled in Blanco, Texas in 1975 where he also raised goats and pigs on his off days from Bullis. Bob was a member of the Westover Baptist Church of San Marcos, then after moving to Blanco he became a member of the Blanco Baptist Church. He retired from civil service in 1985 after which he and wife Clara enjoyed the country life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Clara Mae, his father and mother and all seven of his brothers and sisters.
