John Christof Ertman Ernst (the middle names from his mother's family) was a lover of the outdoors, of children, dogs, old automobiles, practical jokes, and life in general. Always an optimist, he was called "Jack" by everyone except his mother. He was half of a set of very identical twins (his brother is Albert, also buried in Prospect Cemetery.) Married to Bessie Sturm, he lived his whole life in the area in which he was born.
