Johann J. Tholen , 77, of Pickrell died Monday , May 3, at his home.

He was born August 28, 1898, near Adams, lived on a farm southeast of Adams until 1949 when he moved to Pickrell . He owned and operated Tholen Service Station in Pickrell until 1947.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his widow, Jennie; daughters, Mrs. George (Bernadine) Fisser of Beatrice, Mrs. Leonard (Audrey) Haecker of Pickrell and Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Ruh of San Jose, Calif., sisters, Mrs. Grace Wallman, Mrs. Marie Leners and Mrs. Jurgen (Elsie) Zimmerman of Beatrice and Mrs. Martin (Lena) DeBuhr of Pickrell, 11 grandchildren and three great great grandsons.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, near Pickrell. Rev. Jack Williams will officiate. The body will lie in state one hour preceding services at the church. A prayer service will be held at 1:45 p.m. in the church basement. A memorial has been established to the church, with Reiner Bauman and John DeBuhr in charge.
